Benefits Of A Gas Station Card

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

We have seen the skyrocketing surge of gas price up to $4.50 per gallon and its recent decline to $1.49 per gallon. It has apparently reached the bottom and is now slowly inching its way up again, sending shivers to the gas-guzzling world. It may not be too far in the future when gas prices will go sky high again. More than ever, this is the time to save on gasoline but savings will not always mean cutting down on our driving so we consume less of that precious stuff. Saving on gasoline could mean also that we should find ways to buy gasoline at a discount, or a price lower than the regular pump price.

Gasoline rebate credit card is a good option to save some bucks. It is just like an ordinary credit card but it gives you rebates every time you use it to purchase gas. You can use it for other purchases but since it is focused on gas, rebates are given only on gas purchases and not on other items purchased.

There are two types of gas credit cards. The first one gives the cardholder rebates when making gas purchases on any gas station and the second one gives rebates only when used to purchase gas in the gas stations of a particular gas company. While both types of cards have their advantages, the gas card that focuses on one particular gas company seems to have the edge because of the following:

• More rebates – A gas credit card sponsored by a particular gas company gives more rebates off the pump than a gas credit card that can be used in all gas stations. A Shell MasterCard will give you from one to two percent more rebate compared with a Discover open road card. A Chevron Gas credit card gives 30 cents per gallon credit for 60 days from date of issue. While we are talking of cents per gallon savings here, we have to remember that those cents do add up. At the end of the month, or year, we realize a substantial savings in our gas purchases.

• Better gifts – Loyalty pays, especially when it comes to the gas station that we patronize every time we fill up our tanks. When you use your traditional credit card in purchasing gas from different gas stations, you do not develop loyalty to a particular one so don’t expect to be rewarded. When you are patronizing a single gas company for your fill ups, they see such loyalty and you are properly rewarded with gifts year round, no matter how small they may be. T-shirts, calendars, coffee mugs, or gas gift cards are usually sent by gas companies to their loyal patrons.

In choosing a gas credit card that is focused on one gas company, you have to see to it that such gas company has gas stations near your area so you don’t have to waste much gas to fill up. Also, see to it that the gas company is operating nationwide so that you can fill up on their stations whenever you travel. Apply for such kind of gas credit card now and start counting your savings.

Car Maintenance 101 – Keeping Your Car In Shape

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

We all understand why we consider our cars like new babies (or old babies, but still babies). It does require special care and maintenance. After all, we need the vehicle for our daily transport needs and we cannot have them conk out on us just when we are about to go to an important meeting. While some of us wait until the engine gives out before we go to a service center, other responsible car owners keep their vehicles well maintained by regularly having the cars serviced.
