Children learning to walk brings exhilaration to their parents but at the same time brings also fear that they might stumble and fall. When kids learn how to drive, the emotions parents feel are quite akin to what they had when they were beginning to walk. Parents welcome the progress in their children’s lives but are protectively fearful at the same time being aware of their inexperience in the new-learned activity or function. Parents will have an innumerable “what ifs” in their minds as their teen son or daughter ventures out into the street in the family car? What if he did not see a road hazard? What if he did not avoid unsafe driving situation? What if… and on and on.

Unfortunately, car insurance companies think the same way as parents do when it comes to young drivers. Backed by statistics that show young drivers are filing for damage claims more than their adult counterparts, insurance companies tend to lump them together under one group - young and inexperienced drivers and therefore accident-prone. Since auto insurance premiums are based on the risk factor, these young, inexperienced drivers will be charged very high insurance premiums. It will then be a great shock to parents to discover that their insurance premium had doubled, even tripled, the moment they added their young driver into the policy.

But there are ways of cushioning the impact of a skyrocketing auto insurance premium because of the added young driver in the family. Auto insurance discounts can be availed of if only you know where to look for them.

Discounts may be given to good students. Auto insurance companies had learned long time ago that students with good grades are more responsible in all areas of their lives than poor students do. And this includes driving. Look for these auto insurance companies that offer discounts to students who maintain good report cards. Good grades may offset the young driver’s lack of driving experience.

Auto insurance companies give discounts to safe cars. A family sedan is a lot safer to drive than a sports coupe; a four-cylinder car is also safer than an eight-cylinder monster. If your young driver will be driving a safe car instead of a powerful racer, you can get a lot of discounts from the auto insurance company. Another factor to consider in the area of car safety will be the safety features and anti-theft devices installed in the car. If your car is equipped with an alarm system that will deter theft, a recovery device like a lo-jack, or a backing camera or device that makes parking a breeze, your auto insurance premium will drastically lower even if you have a young driver in the coverage. While newer cars come equipped with these devices, improving an older car by adding them will not only lower your insurance rate - it will make your car safe and less likely to be stolen.

Finally, attending auto safety classes will help your young driver prevent accidents and broaden their driving knowledge even with the limited experience they have. In addition to such benefits of attending auto safety classes, this will also lower the auto insurance premium.

Paying more money does not always mean that you are getting the best; sometimes you get less for what you paid for. This is true also with car insurance where high premium makes people believe that they are getting the best coverage when in truth they are getting only what is equivalent coverage to what some other people are paying a lot less for.

You can try asking some of your friends or fellow workers on their insurance coverage and the premium they are paying and you will be surprised to learn that for the same coverage, these people are paying for different rates of premiums. This only shows that insurance companies charge differently for the same coverage they provide to customers. Insurance companies charge premiums based on their perception of the client’s risk level; the higher the risk level is, the higher premium goes too. But then, insurance companies differ on how they perceive risk levels and therefore they will differ also in the rate of premiums they will be charging.

The best option then will be to shop around, a tool that is often times applicable whenever people want to buy anything or avail of services. Different merchants offer different prices for the same kind of commodity and insurance companies are no different. When shopping around for the best car insurance coverage and the lower premium possible, you should be getting different quotes from different companies. Five quotes will be ideal but these quotes should not come from insurance companies but rather from insurance brokers. Each broker will give you several quotes from different insurance companies but not all brokers cover all insurance companies. The best way of doing this is by getting quotes from five different brokers which will mean that you will have a lot of insurance companies giving you the amount of how much premium they charge for the particular coverage that you want.

When you request quotes from brokers online, all that they will require you to do is answer some questions which you can accomplish in few minutes. Getting quotes from five different brokers may require you to spend about thirty minutes or so answering questions. You may complain that it is too much time to spend just for getting quotes but if it will mean $200 savings for one year, the time spent looking for quotes will be well worth it.

Some people may do their shopping around for insurance the old and hard way: looking for ads of insurance companies in the yellow pages then calling them one by one for quotes. You might be spending the whole day doing this but you still will not be getting enough quotes that will enable you to choose the best. You might as well forget about this method of getting insurance quotes and instead go online for better results. This will give you better chances of getting insurance quotes that will give you the best car insurance coverage for the least premium payment.

More and more people get their own cash back credit cards nowadays but the question is, what do these cards really do and are they really effective in ensuring cost efficiency? It seems that more and more people get attracted to the benefits of cash back credit cards most especially now that the whole world is experiencing a financial crisis. But are they really worth it? Here are some ways you can make sure that you get a real deal when you apply for yours, plus some tips on things to watch out for.

Credit cards are of the most value to those who know how to use them. This means that you can get the most benefit from a card simply by not leaving a monthly balance on the card, and by making payments on time. So if you can follow those two simple rules, then you can qualify to get the best benefits from a cash back credit card.

Choose a card type that will work to your advantage. Everyone has a certain type of credit card that they can profit from the most. For instance, a gas card will profit those the most that drive a lot of miles each month, and need to maintain a car, or spend time in a hotel. This is because the points that are given for your purchases can be used toward hotels, and you may get the most cash back for your purchases of gas. Some gas cards will even give you points for car maintenance expenses, and possibly the points may even be applied toward buying another car. A card that is selected for your greatest monthly expenses will give you the most benefits.

Also, see how much of a percentage of cash back is given toward your more ordinary purchases - like food, medicine, and gas (if it is not a gas card). This can go anywhere from 1% up to 6 % for some products. Obviously, you want the highest percentage you can get.

This feature is especially important if you have balances on other credit cards. You can transfer them to your new cash back credit card and enjoy a 0% APR balance for up to 15 months. This gives you great savings in interest and can help you to reduce those other credit card debts, if you will pay the same amount on the new credit card.

This is one way that many people lose their benefits. Not comparing the various features listed in this article, and following its advice will often reduce their benefits reduced to a big fat zero - or less. Although they will get some rebate checks, they need to add up their late fees and interest for each month in order to determine if it really is good deal.

Of course, the best thing for you to do is to choose a cash back credit card with a low interest rate, no annual fees, or hidden charges. In addition, remember that by using it right, you also are building up a credit score - one that will allow you to buy the big purchases - especially if you don’t have all your credit cards maxed out.

First of all, you need to make sure you don’t have to drive extra to get a discount for your gas purchases. Remember, you of can save about $.10 per gallon. If you put an average of 15 gallons of gas in your car when you stop to fill up, that means a total of $1.50. If you have to drive over 1.5 miles (3 mile round trip) to obtain this saves you have lost money. You have also put in some extra time to drive these three miles. My suggestion is that if you have to drive over .5 mile (1 mile round trip) to get to a gas station where you will be able to obtain a rebate, forget it.

You need to stay within your budget. If you budget $400 a month for gas and pay for it with cash or check, it is easy to know when the budgeted gas money is on empty. When paying for something often with a credit card, like gas, it is easy to lose track of how much has been spent. You need to pay close attention to how much you have spent, or it can get out of hand easily.

When going to a gas station, watch out for the in-store purchases. Items such as candy bars, potato chips, coffee or other grocery items are often marked up very heavily. That savings you made on your gas purchase can be quickly lost with just a few purchases inside the store.

The biggest concern with gas station credit cards is the same as it is with any other credit card. Usually, these cards can be used at other stores as well and sometimes they offer a 1% - 2% rebate for any store purchase with the use of their credit card. Use the same rule as always with regard to credit cards. If you cannot pay for it immediately, do not but it. Do not be deceived as the small 1% - 2% rebates will get eaten up very quickly with the exorbitant interest rates that these cards charge. That very small savings will not be worth it unless you are absolutely sure you have the money budgeted sitting in savings or at home.

Make sure you are not driving more than an additional .5 mile to obtain this rebate. Stay away from the in-store purchases and use gas station credit cards for gas purchases only. Pay off the card on a weekly basis, if not sooner. Also, use extreme caution when using the card for anything besides gas. If you cannot pay for it, don’t use it.

Don’t be fooled by the very small rebate available on other purchases and over spend. Remember that this credit card is just like any other credit card in that if you don’t pay it off right away you will be paying large interest rates on the balance.

Despite the hard and trying times in terms of our economy, like we are facing right now, a gas station credit card can save us a few bucks. To use a gas station credit card to our advantage, and not the credit card companies, follow the steps mentioned above. Above all things, remember, if you cannot pay for it, do not buy it.

Gasoline credit cards are often referred to as Rebate cards, but in essence it is a type of credit card that provides rebates to reward gas purchases made on the card. Many credit card companies and fuel conglomerates offer these kinds of cards to the market. Usually, these two kinds of companies enter into a partnership to provide the gas credit cards to the consumer. With this system, money is earned as savings in the usage of the card.

Though the amount saved may be minimal at best, the accumulation of the daily purchases for one year would result in a large savings. Two varieties of cards are made available. One would have the logos of a fuel company together with a credit card company. With this card, there is an exclusivity of allowed use in the purchases of fuel. On the other hand, credit card companies provide the second kind but base the rebates on the amount of purchases and not the personality of the purchases. Even if it is a non-fuel purchase, there are rebates earned.

How Do Credit Card Companies Work
Gasoline cards operate much the same way as credit cards. Like many other cards, gas credit cards can be used for many purchases at gasoline stations. With each purchase, there is a 6% cash back option on the value of the purchase. In this case, the increasing cost of gasoline is effectively deflated with the cash back provision.

These cards work n a percentage basis, so that with each use, a percentage of the purchase amount is returned as value to the owner of the card. The range of said cash back provisions are anywhere from 1% to 6%. Points systems are the offering of other gas cards. Owners earn the points with the purchases of fuel made on the card and these points have a specific monetary value. The amounts are either received by another credit card or a check in the mail.

People must be fully aware of the provisions and the effects the credit cards have and what tips can be done to maximize its use. Make sure that payables are settled monthly . Also, getting credit card counseling is another option to fully understand the ramifications of the credit card use.

The Rewards of Credit Card Use
The benefits of a gasoline card can be quantified by the simple act of swiping the card at the gas station each time one fills up the tank. Also, records can be kept of the mileage of the vehicle and the amount purchased for gasoline monthly. Also, these cards are helpful when people travel great distances and do not have enough cash on hand to make the trip. In these instances, the card can be used and payments be made later.

Other credit card companies offer gasoline cards that allow normal use by the card owner. Fewer though allow balance transfers on credit cards but with diligent payment one would be able to improve their own credit scores.

Gas prices have their valleys and peaks; they went up to a high of $4.50 per gallon of regular gas then bottomed out at $1.48 per gallon and it is now going up again, hitting $1.85 these days. It will not be surprising if it hit the $2.00 mark in a few days. It is for the reason of a volatile gas pricing mechanism that sent millions of people to use gas credit cards whenever they go to the pump to fill up. Gas, being a basic necessity worldwide, has to be purchased by people regardless of how it is priced.

Gas credit cards are the same as the basic credit card that rewards cardholders with rebates or cash backs whenever they the use such card when they make purchases. The proliferation of so many gas credit card offers compel people to apply for one even without examining the terms and conditions of the card. The following are some common tips that will help you in deciding what kind of gas credit card you are going to apply for:

•	If you intend to pay your credit card bill beyond its due date, like paying only the minimum payment required in case you are somewhat cash-strapped, it will be for your best interest if you choose to get a card that charges the lowest interest rate.

•	Choose a gas credit card that has a longer grace period for payments, allowing you to make payments well beyond the due date with reasonable interest rates. This type of gas credit card may, however, charge you with a higher APR and may give you a lower fuel limit.

•	Check offers for a zero interest rate gas credit cards. Sometimes, the zero interest rates will be for the initial months only, thereafter, you will be charged a very high interest rate. Study the fine prints in every gas credit card offer before you finally apply for one.

•	Gas credit cards offer cash back or reward points only if you fill up your tank a number of times in a month. If you drive short distances only, your gas consumption will be minimal thus you will not be able to avail of the reward system they offer. Look for a gas credit card that offers discount every time you go to the pump.

•	Check if the gas credit card you will apply can be used in the gas stations in your area or areas where you usually drive to. It will be a waste of time and money if you have to travel long distance just to find a gas station that accepts your gas credit card.

•	When you usually drive long distance or to different areas, apply for a gas credit card sponsored by the gas company that has branches in the places you usually travel to.

Gas credit cards can help people save a lot in their gas purchases. Even if your credit history is not that good, you can still avail of a gas credit card that will help you save money.

Corporations and business establishments find accounting difficulty at the end of the month due to reimbursement and cash advances transactions. To address this problem, bank and credit card issuers have decided to offer fleet cards or what we commonly know as gas cards. This can provide convenience to the company and to the employees as well. The company will be assured that the gas expenses of the employees are the actual amount that they purchased. For the employee’s part, they will be able to get their gas allowances instantly without submitting several requirements. Corporate gas cards minimize and at most eliminate cash transaction and employee reimbursement. Every corporation and establishment should not make use of this card to improve their operation.

Usually, companies who are planning to get this account are asking what are the specific features, terms and conditions and payment scheme of the company gas card. Well, there’s no exact answer to that question. This type of card has different programs and varying payment options. Fleet or gas cards can be specific fuel brands, fueling networks or universal acceptance. The universal acceptance gas cards are preferred than the first two. The universal acceptance gas card can be used to any gas stations and shops because it is hundred percent accepted worldwide. When singing up for this account, it’s up to you what kind of program will be the most convenient for your company and employees. That’s the main consideration because that’s the priority reason for this offer – to give ease and convenience to company and employees.

We have seen the skyrocketing surge of gas price up to $4.50 per gallon and its recent decline to $1.49 per gallon. It has apparently reached the bottom and is now slowly inching its way up again, sending shivers to the gas-guzzling world. It may not be too far in the future when gas prices will go sky high again. More than ever, this is the time to save on gasoline but savings will not always mean cutting down on our driving so we consume less of that precious stuff. Saving on gasoline could mean also that we should find ways to buy gasoline at a discount, or a price lower than the regular pump price.

Gasoline rebate credit card is a good option to save some bucks. It is just like an ordinary credit card but it gives you rebates every time you use it to purchase gas. You can use it for other purchases but since it is focused on gas, rebates are given only on gas purchases and not on other items purchased.

There are two types of gas credit cards. The first one gives the cardholder rebates when making gas purchases on any gas station and the second one gives rebates only when used to purchase gas in the gas stations of a particular gas company. While both types of cards have their advantages, the gas card that focuses on one particular gas company seems to have the edge because of the following:

•	More rebates - A gas credit card sponsored by a particular gas company gives more rebates off the pump than a gas credit card that can be used in all gas stations. A Shell MasterCard will give you from one to two percent more rebate compared with a Discover open road card. A Chevron Gas credit card gives 30 cents per gallon credit for 60 days from date of issue. While we are talking of cents per gallon savings here, we have to remember that those cents do add up. At the end of the month, or year, we realize a substantial savings in our gas purchases.

•	Better gifts - Loyalty pays, especially when it comes to the gas station that we patronize every time we fill up our tanks. When you use your traditional credit card in purchasing gas from different gas stations, you do not develop loyalty to a particular one so don’t expect to be rewarded. When you are patronizing a single gas company for your fill ups, they see such loyalty and you are properly rewarded with gifts year round, no matter how small they may be. T-shirts, calendars, coffee mugs, or gas gift cards are usually sent by gas companies to their loyal patrons.

In choosing a gas credit card that is focused on one gas company, you have to see to it that such gas company has gas stations near your area so you don’t have to waste much gas to fill up. Also, see to it that the gas company is operating nationwide so that you can fill up on their stations whenever you travel. Apply for such kind of gas credit card now and start counting your savings.

Gasoline is a necessary evil; its price could go sky high but we still buy them. Even at gasoline’s highest pump price at $4.50 per gallon, people keep on buying them as there is no alternative to it. The only way to mitigate the high cost of gasoline is to look for savings options. One can minimize driving by taking public transport, trading your gas guzzler for an economical model, or learning how to drive at a speed that is considered most fuel efficient.

A new popular way of saving money on gas is through the use of a credit card that offers rebate every time you fill up at the pump. The mechanics are simple: you apply for a gas rebate credit card and they give you up to 10% rebate for all your gas purchases. With the price of gas lowering a lot since its highest level a few months back but with no guarantee that it will remain low for the foreseeable future, gas rebate cards become special tools of saving some rapidly disappearing money. A ten percent savings on a $30 tank of gas is indeed a powerful incentive to apply for a gas rebate credit card.

Credit cards that give rebates on purchases work different ways. Some of them give rebates by sending the card holder gift cards or discounts on other purchases. One popular method of granting rebate is by crediting the amount you saved on your account so that when you received your bill at month’s end, it will be ten percent less than your actual total gas purchase. It will also translate into a lower monthly interest payment as the total amount that is subject to financing charge is already ten percent lower that what is should originally be. In effect, this is double savings on your part.

The most popular credit card that offer this rebate is the AAA Diamond Advantage Visa issued by MBNA that offers a five percent rebate on any gas brand purchased plus a reward point for every dollar. The accumulated reward points are applied automatically to your account. Upon accumulating 5,000 points, a $50 gift certificate for AAA services is issued.

Shell MasterCard from Citibank gives a five percent rebate on gas purchases and one percent rebate for other purchases. The savings is automatically credited to your account. Nine or more purchases of Shell gasoline in a given year will waive the annual $20 credit card fee.

When choosing a gas rebate card, you should examine closely all offers of rewards and find out the best one that suits your spending habit. Cutting your gas bill by ten percent, plus the reduction in the finance charges, would mean a lot to your finances. Choose a credit card that offers a great cash back option and a generous rewards point system. This will be your best bet in the world of shrinking money and spiraling cost of commodities.

Gasoline pricing is like a roller coaster ride. For the past year, gasoline price was in a steep climb then it went on a downward spiral the last few months. Right now, it is showing some signs of going up again. From a high of $4.50 few months back, regular gasoline now sells in the vicinity of $1.75 with a noticeable rise in some states like California.

Regardless of the cost of gasoline, people still have to fill up their tanks as car travel is the most convenient way of going to work, school, and other destinations. While there are means of mass transportation, it is not convenient because stations are far in between. One has to take another ride from one station to the place of work. Added to this will be the mandatory walk that can cover several miles. While walking is considered to be a very good form of exercise, you will not appreciate it when you are rushing to get to your place of work on time or when you are going home after a hard day’s work.

Driving one’s car is therefore a necessity in the industrialized world, regardless of the cost of gasoline. Since we do not have control on the price of gasoline, all we need to do is to look for alternatives where we can cut down a bit the pump price of that very important commodity.

One way of economizing on gas purchase is through the use of a gas credit card. It is an ordinary credit card issued by banks that has tie-up with gas companies. This gas card can work in different ways:

•	When you purchase gas from the pump using the gas credit card, you are charged a lower rate than when you use ordinary credit cards, sometimes lower than when you pay in cash. The idea here is to make you patronize the gas company that sponsors the credit card. Such discount on gas price cannot be availed if you purchase gas from another station that is run by a gas company different from the gas company that sponsors your credit card.
•	When you purchase gas from a station run by the gas company that issued your gas credit card, you pay the regular pump price but you accumulate credit points. The accumulated credit points can later be converted into cash or be used to purchase gas from stations of the said gas company.
•	When you use your gas credit card to make purchases in stations run by the gas company that issued your credit card, you will be getting cash rebates. The cash rebate will be accumulated and will appear in your monthly credit card bill. There will come a point when you can apply the accumulated rebates to your gas charges.

It is always a good idea that when applying for a credit card, one must closely scrutinize the fine prints. There might be something in the agreement between the issuer of the credit card and the user that might turn out to be disadvantageous to the user. But generally, gas credit cards really provide a hefty discount and benefits to the card holder.
