Studies show that there are cars traveling with one tire that is underinflated and they go as high as 50 percent. Know the nature and value of your tires, sidewalls expand significantly at lower tire pressures which affect car’s handling on the road, which will affect a driver’s control of the vehicle. The symptoms include a “softer” but “wallow” driving. And it affects your mileage since your wheel and axle are not aligned with the desired tire pressure, which will lead to lost savings in gas in the long run. Also, weather conditions like for example, a normal sunny day can add to an existing build up of heat within the rubber. Tire quality loses it’s original form and forms lumps on the sidewalls.

Consult the automakers to learn the ideal tire pressure for your vehicle. There are writings in placards posted in your vehicle that will guide you, it is usually installed in doorjams, the gas filler door, and it is also found in the glove compartment cover inside the vehicle. Overinflation is not recommended as this will also affect the handling and the tire quality. Make sure that all four tires and a spare comply with the specified tire pressure. Keep it at 60 psi and you may reach your destination safely and without hassles.
